Hey Creta Clan, 😀

Just got back from a mesmerizing 700km road trip with my brand new 2024 Creta SX Tech Diesel, and let me tell you, it was an adventure! We set our sights on the charming hill station of Shimla, and the Creta proved itself a reliable and comfortable companion throughout the journey.

The Journey Begins: Delhi to Chandigarh 🍕

The first leg was a breeze on the smooth NH44. The Creta SX Tech Diesel purred like a kitten on the highway, and the mileage figures were a pleasant surprise. We cruised along with the infotainment system pumping out our favorite tunes, and the cruise control made maintaining speed a breeze. The spacious cabin ensured everyone was comfortable, and the panoramic sunroof offered a delightful view of the passing scenery.

Shimla Calling: Winding Roads and Scenic Beauty 🤩

As we approached the foothills, the roads started to twist and turn. The Creta handled the switchbacks with surprising confidence, thanks to its well-balanced handling. The diesel engine provided ample power for tackling inclines, and the infotainment system's navigation kept us on track. We even managed to squeeze in some breathtaking photo ops along the way, with the Creta looking right at home amidst the picturesque landscape.

Shimla Serenade: Exploring the Queen of Hills 😍 😘

Finally reaching Shimla, we were captivated by its colonial charm and breathtaking views. The Creta, parked amidst the bustling streets, garnered a few curious glances. We spent the next few days exploring the historic landmarks, indulging in local delicacies, and soaking in the cool mountain air. The Creta's spacious boot proved to be a lifesaver, swallowing all our shopping bags and souvenirs with ease.

The Return Journey: Memories and a Few Surprises 🤨

The drive back was just as enjoyable, though with a few unexpected turns. The Creta's suspension, while comfortable on smooth roads, could be a tad stiffer for handling some of the rougher patches we encountered on the backroads. Also, some engine noise seeped into the cabin at higher speeds, making us realize that some extra soundproofing might be a good investment. A minor adjustment to the lane departure warning system also seems necessary, as it beeped a few times on wider roads where it wasn't entirely needed.

Overall:

Despite these minor surprises, the Creta SX Tech Diesel was a fantastic road trip companion. It's fuel-efficient, comfortable, and packed with features that make long journeys a breeze. This first adventure with the Creta was a perfect blend of scenic beauty, memorable experiences, and a few learning curves that will help me optimize future trips. 🥂 👍

That's a fantastic write-up! Sounds like you had an amazing trip to Shimla and the Creta was a champ throughout. The pictures you must have taken with the Creta amidst those beautiful hills must be stunning!

Shimla is definitely on my wishlist for a future road trip, and your experience with the Creta on those winding roads is very helpful. The fuel efficiency figures you mentioned for the diesel engine are impressive. Did you find any significant difference in mileage on the highway compared to the hilly sections?

Also, about the engine noise seeping into the cabin - that's an interesting point. Have you considered any specific soundproofing solutions? I'd be curious to know if other Creta SX Tech Diesel owners have recommendations.

Overall, your first Creta road trip experience sounds delightful! It makes me even more excited to plan my own adventure behind the wheel. Thanks for sharing!

@rohit Mileage on the highway was definitely better. I was averaging around [mention a fuel efficiency figure] on the NH44, but it dipped a bit in the hillier sections, maybe to around [mention a slightly lower figure]. Still impressive for a diesel engine with the power it delivers, though!

Soundproofing Solutions: Haven't seriously explored specific solutions yet, but I completely agree, some extra soundproofing could be a good investment. I'll definitely look into after-market dampening materials like you mentioned. Maybe we can start a separate thread for that - a "Creta Soundproofing Tips" thread could be helpful for everyone 🤔

@rohit you mentioned after-market dampening materials. Are there any specific brands or types you'd recommend for the Creta? Also, is this a DIY project or something best left to professionals?

I've seen some online tutorials about soundproofing car doors, but I'm a little nervous about taking apart the interior panels myself. 🤨

@rohit where can we get soundproofing done for our car? How much does it cost?

@robin-roxx @krishna-anand Soundproofing can be a DIY project, but it can be a bit time-consuming and requires some attention to detail. There are video tutorials online that can guide you through the process, but it involves removing interior panels and applying the dampening materials properly. If you're not comfortable with that, getting it done professionally might be a better option.

There are a few popular brands for car sound deadening like Noico, Dynamat, and FatMat. They offer different materials like butyl rubber mats and closed-cell foam. Doing some research on their websites or online reviews might help you decide which brand and type best suit your needs and budget.

I'm planning to start that new thread soon, so keep an eye out for it! In the meantime, feel free to share any questions or resources you discover about soundproofing materials or the DIY approach 🤔
