Creta 1.5 Diesel SX(O) - 3 Years and Counting
Hey everyone,
I've been driving my Creta 1.5 Diesel SX(O) for about 3 years now and it's clocked around 55,000 kilometers. I bought it primarily for its bold looks, spacious interiors, and feature-rich package. And boy, it hasn't disappointed.
The Creta's design still holds up well. The sharp lines and the bold stance make it stand out in the crowd. The interiors are comfortable and practical, with ample space for both passengers and luggage. The 1.5-liter diesel engine has been a reliable workhorse. It pulls strongly in the mid-range and offers decent fuel efficiency. The 6-speed manual gearbox is smooth, though I do miss paddle shifters sometimes.
The ride quality is a mixed bag. It's comfortable on highways, but it can get a bit bumpy on bad roads. The suspension could be a tad firmer for better handling. The ground clearance is adequate for most Indian road conditions, but I've scraped the underbody a couple of times on steep ramps.
The feature list is impressive. The touchscreen infotainment system is responsive, and the connectivity options are good. The climate control works efficiently, and the seats are comfortable for long drives. However, the rear AC vents could be more powerful.
So far, maintenance costs have been reasonable. The service intervals are convenient, and the service network is widespread. There have been no major issues, just some minor niggles like creaking noises from the dashboard and occasional glitches with the touchscreen.
Overall, I'm satisfied with my Creta. It's a practical, feature-rich SUV that does most things well. But I do wish it had a slightly firmer suspension and a more powerful AC.
What about you Creta owners? How has your experience been? Share your thoughts and let's make this a comprehensive long-term review.
Great to see a detailed ownership review! I've been eyeing the Creta 1.5 Diesel for a while now, so your insights are really helpful.
I agree with you on the looks and interior space. The Creta definitely has road presence. I've driven a friend's Creta once, and the comfort levels were impressive. However, I did find the suspension a bit on the softer side. Did you upgrade to bigger tires or stiffer suspension components?
I'm also curious about the long-term reliability of the diesel engine. How has it been in terms of performance and fuel efficiency? Any major service costs you've encountered?
I'm considering a Creta as my next car, and your review has definitely added to my knowledge. Keep us updated on your ownership experience!
Great to see a detailed ownership report on the Creta! I've been considering upgrading from my compact sedan to a Creta, and your review has been quite helpful.
The diesel engine's performance and fuel efficiency are key factors for me. Could you elaborate on the kind of mileage you're getting, especially in city conditions? Also, how's the engine refinement at higher speeds?
I'm also interested in the long-term reliability of the car. Have you faced any major issues or breakdowns so far? Any specific maintenance tips you can share?
Thanks for sharing your experience!
I own a Creta 1.5 petrol automatic. While I love the convenience of the automatic gearbox, I often find myself missing the control of a manual. How do you find the manual transmission in terms of clutch feel and gear shifts? Does it get tiring in heavy traffic?
Also, could you share your experience with the infotainment system? How's the touch response and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity?
Great to see a fellow Creta owner sharing their experience! I've been eyeing the Creta SX(O) for a while now. The features list is impressive, but I'm a bit concerned about the ground clearance. How does the Creta handle bad roads and potholes? Any issues with scraping the underbody?
Also, could you share your experience with the after-sales service? How responsive is the dealership for service appointments and resolving issues?
The engine is a real gem. In the city, I average around 13-14 kmpl, which I think is pretty decent considering the traffic. On highways, it can stretch to about 16-17 kmpl if you're gentle on the throttle.
The engine is refined for a diesel, with minimal vibrations. There's a slight clatter at idle, but it's not too intrusive. On the highway, it's quiet and smooth, allowing for relaxed cruising.
You're absolutely right about the suspension. It's on the softer side, which is great for comfort but does affect handling a bit. I haven't upgraded anything yet, but I've considered it. Maybe some slightly stiffer springs or dampers could improve things without sacrificing too much comfort.
The diesel engine has been rock solid. No major issues at all. Fuel efficiency has been consistent, and service costs are in line with what I expected for a car of this size.
I've covered around 55,000 km now, and the engine still feels as peppy as ever. It's a great balance of performance and economy.
Thanks for your question. The manual gearbox in the Creta is a pleasure to use. The clutch is light and has a good bite point, making it easy to maneuver in traffic. Gear shifts are smooth and precise, and the 6-speed gearbox offers good ratios for both city and highway driving. While it can get tiring in bumper-to-bumper traffic, it's definitely manageable.
The infotainment system is a mixed bag. The touch response is decent, but it can be a bit slow at times. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work flawlessly and make the system much more user-friendly. The sound quality is good, and the overall interface is intuitive.
The Creta's ground clearance is decent for most urban and highway conditions. I haven't faced any major issues with scraping the underbody, even on moderately bad roads. However, if you frequently encounter deep potholes or rough terrains, you might want to be a bit cautious.
Regarding after-sales service, I've had a positive experience so far. The dealership is usually prompt with service appointments, and the service quality has been satisfactory. There have been a couple of minor issues, but they were resolved efficiently. Overall, I'm happy with the after-sales support.
