Just cruised back from a fantastic weekend in Mcleodganj with my trusty Creta S Diesel (that deep black paint looks killer against the snowy peaks!). Mcleodganj might not be the most hardcore off-road adventure, but it definitely threw some interesting challenges at the Creta – and it emerged a champ (mostly)! 😆

  1. Fuel Efficiency Friend: The 1.5L diesel engine surprised me with its excellent fuel efficiency even on those hilly stretches. I averaged around 18-19 kmpl, which is fantastic considering the constant inclines. 😇
  2. Tech on the Trail: The touchscreen infotainment system was a lifesaver. Offline maps downloaded for those patchy phone reception moments were a lifesaver, and Bluetooth connectivity kept the tunes pumping on those scenic drives. 🤗
  3. Spacious Sanctuary: With the rear seats folded flat, the cargo space became a surprisingly comfortable (for one!) sleeping area. Next time, with some clever packing strategies, I might even squeeze in a friend. 😍

Himalayan Hiccups:

  1. Ground Clearance Challenge: Okay, let's face it, the Creta's ground clearance isn't the highest. There were a couple of sections on the way to Triund where I scraped the undercarriage on some rocky patches. Maybe temporary skid plates are a good investment for future adventures. 🤭
  2. Power Play: The 1.5L diesel engine, while fuel-efficient, did require some extra planning for overtaking on steep inclines, especially with a full camping load. Maybe next time, I'll consider a lighter setup or choose a route with less demanding inclines. 🤔
  3. Mystery Moisture: This one caught me off guard. After a particularly heavy monsoon downpour on the way back, I noticed some condensation build-up inside the headlights. Not a major issue yet, but it does raise a question about potential water resistance for future rainy adventures. 😣

Overall Verdict:

The Creta S Diesel proved to be a surprisingly capable companion for a weekend Himalayan escape. The fuel efficiency was fantastic, the cargo space transformed into a decent sleeping area, and the tech features kept me connected and entertained. However, the ground clearance limitations and the engine's need for planning on steep inclines are worth keeping in mind for future trips.

Condensation in the headlights after a heavy downpour? That's definitely not ideal, but it's a good catch. It's better to address it now before it becomes a bigger problem.

Check for Leaks: While the car is parked, open the hood and have someone spray water around the headlight housings with a gentle stream. Look for any obvious leaks or water ingress points.

The condensation might be due to a lack of proper ventilation in the headlight housings. Ask the service center to check the ventilation points (if any) and ensure they're not blocked. 🤔

Do share your service center experience here also 😊

Sounds like an epic trip, ! Mcleodganj in the Creta S Diesel - can't go wrong with that combo. 18-19 kmpl in the hills is impressive, good call on the offline maps too. 😊

Condensation in the headlights is a good catch. Maybe keep an eye on it and see if it clears up on its own. If not, the service center might be a good idea. 😳

Overall, sounds like the Creta handled it well (except for maybe needing a friend to share the driving on those inclines 😉 ). Happy camping! 🍻
